Optimal performance for teams and groups is produced through the ability to manage and cope with the stress and challenges of performance. Often we focus on training the physical, technical and tactical sides of performance while neglecting the mental side. At the elite levels of sport, business, or high -risk occupations such as the military and first responders, high standards of performance are demanded and are often accompanied by stressful and high -pressure situations. Loss of confidence, performance anxiety, fear of failure, and lapse in concentration are some of the common responses to high performance demands. Without tools to manage stress and high-pressure situations, chances of optimal performance diminish. Mental Performance Training uses psychological skills such as: relaxation, self-talk, imagery/visualization, concentration, and goal setting to arm performers with the Mental Performance Skills necessary to manage stress and meet performance demands.
